FlashAcademy® has been named Technology Innovator of the Year at the 2025 Innovation Awards in Birmingham. The award recognises organisations making a real difference through innovation and was announced at a black tie event attended by more than 500 people at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.
The win highlights the growing need for effective English as an additional language support and celebrates the impact teachers are achieving with FlashAcademy® across schools, colleges, charities and workplaces.
FlashAcademy® CEO Veejay Lingiah said: “It is huge to win this award. Full credit goes to the team behind FlashAcademy® and everything they do every day on the mission we are on. I hope this award shines a light on the EAL challenge across the UK and the teachers and pupils who are impacted by it. It will hopefully help us continue to scale the impact we are having across the country.”
The judging panel recognised FlashAcademy® for its innovative AI-assisted marking and data-informed assessment tools that save teachers significant time while helping every learner show what they can do. FlashAcademy® has supported more than 700,000 learners in over 2,400 schools, colleges, charities and businesses worldwide and has delivered more than four million lessons. Schools report increased assessment efficiency, stronger evidence of progress and improved learner confidence.
Dr Richard Fallon, CEO of the Technology Supply Chain, said: “Congratulations to FlashAcademy®. We had more entries than ever before and competition in every category was the strongest it has been. Each winner can be justifiably proud and can look forward to ongoing support from the 5,000-member TSC network as they chart their course to future success.”
FlashAcademy® remains focused on breaking down language barriers and helping learners thrive and save teachers time through:
- AI-assisted marking for fast, accurate and insightful assessment feedback.

- Engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum, available in 48 home languages.

Supporting whole-school development
As part of our mission to remove language barriers, we’ve also launched the Grow with FlashAcademy® CPD programme – an on-demand, expert-led training programme tailored to the needs of teachers supporting EAL learners. EAL education technology plays a vital role in this programme.
Structured into three tiers, Grow helps schools embed inclusive EAL practice across classrooms, departments, and leadership teams.
It’s all part of our commitment to creating inclusive, effective and affordable EAL support – one that’s accessible to every school and learner, regardless of starting point.
Thank you!
This award is a true testament to the incredible dedication, creativity and hard work of our whole team. From product development to school support, every member of the FlashAcademy® family has played a part in making this possible.
We’re also deeply grateful to the schools who continue to inspire and challenge us. Together, we’re transforming the future of EAL education technology to better support learners and teachers.
