West Midlands Virtual Schools Annual Conference 2018
Building on a close working relationship with Birmingham Virtual School, Learning Labs were invited to share more about FlashAcademy® for Virtual Schools with all conference delegates.
The platform is being used to support a large number of unaccompanied asylum seeker children within Birmingham, helping them to accelerate their English skills from a wide variety of home languages, such as Tigrinya, Arabic, Urdu, Dari, Pashto and more.
Birmingham Virtual School and FlashAcademy® EAL have teamed up to ensure that every unaccompanied asylum seeker child in the region can obtain access to the platform to develop their English skills. FlashAcademy® encourages each child to be an independent learner, able to use the platform on any device (smartphone, tablet or PC), in any location and at any time – whether online or offline. Pupil progress can also be tracked by both school and the Virtual School team.
Discussions are now taking place with several other Virtual Schools across the UK to provide similar access and opportunity to unaccompanied asylum seeker children.
