FlashAcademy® recognised at the 2026 Bett Awards for AI-Driven Workload Reduction

We’re proud to share that FlashAcademy® has been highly commended at the Bett Awards 2026, in the category AI in Education: Workload Reduction.

The recognition celebrates FlashAcademy®’s work supporting schools to reduce teacher workload through the ethical and transparent use of artificial intelligence, particularly in the assessment of learners with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Supporting schools to tackle teacher workload

Classrooms are becoming increasingly multilingual; UK Department for Education data shows that over 21% of pupils in England now have a first language other than English. Schools are also under growing pressure to assess and support EAL learners effectively, often with limited time and specialist capacity. FlashAcademy® was created to help schools meet this challenge at scale.

The platform combines an EAL learning app with a digital assessment and reporting tool, giving teachers and leaders a consistent, whole-school view of learner progress. Having been used by over 2,400 schools and organisations worldwide, FlashAcademy® has supported more than 700,000 learners across 30+ countries.

Recognised for innovation in AI-assisted assessment

The Bett Awards commendation specifically recognises FlashAcademy®’s AI-assisted assessment and marking, the first of its kind designed for EAL. Traditionally, assessing large numbers of multilingual learners has been repetitive, time-consuming and difficult to scale.

FlashAcademy®’s AI reviewer analyses pupil responses, recognises partially correct answers and produces clear summaries for teachers to review and approve. Teachers remain fully in control at every stage, ensuring assessment is transparent, ethical and grounded in professional judgement – an approach aligned with UK government guidance on the responsible use of AI in schools.

Schools using FlashAcademy® report average time savings of around 150 teacher hours per school per year, helping staff focus more time on teaching, targeted interventions and learner confidence.

Impact beyond workload reduction

The benefits extend beyond workload reduction. Consistent assessment and reporting across year groups give leadership teams clearer insight into progress and help shape whole-school EAL strategies. Unlimited teacher licences mean every member of staff can support multilingual learners, while simple PDF reports make it easier to share progress with parents and carers.

If AI-assisted marking was used by every UK school to support EAL learners, it’s estimated to save around 2.8 million teacher hours annually. This demonstrates how carefully designed AI can deliver meaningful, measurable impact in education.

Thank you

Being highly commended at the Bett Awards is a reflection of the schools, teachers and learners who use FlashAcademy® every day. Their feedback and collaboration continue to shape how the platform evolves.

As schools explore how AI can support teaching and learning, this recognition reinforces FlashAcademy®’s commitment to developing technology that reduces pressure on staff, supports inclusion and helps every learner thrive.
