Talk Like An Expert: Secondary Pack 

This free resource has been designed for secondary pupils to improve disciplinary literacy skills and metacognition through exploratory academic talk activities. Based on vocabulary found in the FlashAcademy® Curriculum Wow Words lessons, each discussion mat uses academic vocabulary linked to a different school subject, including English, maths, art, music, history, geography, science, ICT, DT, and citizenship. Pupils use the target vocabulary through a range of activities to encourage them to employ the language both within the subject context and outside of it, using an image as a stimulus for wider discussion.
